Local History
The Central Florida Chapter of FEI was founded in 1984 with a handful of members from surrounding communities. The Chapter has grown each year since inception as the Central Florida business environment has grown. Today, the Chapter supports approximately 100 members and represents the top financial executives of most of the prominent companies in Central Florida.
History and Vision
History - Financial Executives International was founded in 1931. Over time the role of the financial executive expanded and the Institute adopted its broader present name in 1962. As the global economy developed, we were the driving force in forming the International Association of Financial Executives Internationals in 1969. We proactively helped design the CFO Act, and have a history of supporting legislation that enhances the business climate. Our largest chapters are in Boston, Santa Clara Valley, New York and Chicago. In total we have 85 chapters across the U.S. and Canada. We are headquartered in Morristown, NJ, with offices in Washington, DC .
FEI Canada, was established 1973 to serve the needs of our Canadian members, and consists of 11 chapters, and a membership that includes senior financial officers who face common issues and challenges.
Vision - FEI will continue to be the association for the corporate finance profession. We strive to be the most contemporary, dynamic and proactive organization of its kind. We are and will be a powerful network centered on a strong Internet community and local meetings. FEI is member-service oriented with value for dues as a top priority. Cost savings ideas and value building themes that accrue to our members from their FEI participation dwarf the cost of membership.
We strive to be the eyes and ears of the average finance officer facing the day-to-day challenge of enhancing their shareholders' investment. We help members anticipate and react to change, acquire new resources to enhance shareholder value, and build the personal skills to further their careers. We do this by providing information through wide-ranging forms of communication, knowledge of evolving trends and issues and high-quality programs. We help to identify new opportunities for peer networking, and provide for advocacy through representation before legislators and regulators.
Code of Ethics
FEI's mission includes significant efforts to promote ethical
conduct in the practice of financial management throughout the world. Senior
financial officers hold an important and elevated role in corporate governance.
While a member of the management team, they are uniquely capable and empowered
to ensure that all stakeholders' interests are appropriately balanced,
protected and preserved. This code provides principles which members are
expected to adhere to and advocate. They embody rules regarding individual and
peer responsibilities as well as responsibilities to employers, the public, and
other stakeholders.
All members of FEI will:
Act with honesty and integrity, avoiding actual or apparent conflicts of interest in personal and professional relationships.
Provide constituents with information that is accurate, complete, objective and relevant.
Comply with rules and regulations of federal, state, provincial, and local governments, and other appropriate private and public regulatory agencies.
Act in good faith, responsibly, with due care, competence and diligence, without knowingly misrepresenting material facts or allowing one's better judgment to be subordinated.
Respect the confidentiality of information acquired in the course of one's work except when authorized or otherwise legally obligated to disclose. Confidential information acquired in the course of one's work will not be used for personal advantage.
Share knowledge and maintain skills important and relevant to constituent's needs, including employers, peers and public.
Be recognized as a responsible partner among peers and in society.
Achieve responsible use of and control over assets and all resources employed or entrusted.
